This testimony was written by Annabelle, a member of the Youth Ministry Service Team.

As my experience of God changed with time, my understanding and meaning of prayer grew and changed too. Today, prayer is for me a place of encounter, both with myself and with God. Through it, I come to know myself more, not through the lens of the world but through that of the Lord who has created me in his image and calls me by name.

When I pray, I know that God meets me where I am, in that very moment, with all my weaknesses, struggles and limitations.

When I pray, I know that God meets me where I am, in that very moment, with all my weaknesses, struggles and limitations. The more I pray, the deeper I also experience God’s love for me, his unending mercy, forgiveness and healing.

At times, when I feel short of words, I often turn to the Lord’s prayer for guidance and through it, I praise God, I ask for forgiveness, I pray for my needs and I pray for others. Other times, I just rest in God’s presence knowing that I am totally received by a loving Father who waits for me to turn to him in prayer.
C.S.Lewis describes so precicley the purpose of prayer in my life today;

“I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God, it changes me.”
