It is easy to make New Year resolutions which maybe we’ll implement ‘some time’ in this coming year. But when it comes to our relationship with the Lord, now is always the time.
“Maybe later…”
There will always be circumstances and situations which make us put off seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord till later.
We know we should pray, but perhaps when I settle in my job; we know we should meet the Lord in Scripture but maybe when I finish my assignments.
We acknowledge that it is very important for us to grow in faith with others but we’ll try and sort it out when we are less busy.
We know that we should be moving forward in this journey…but we’re still young, it can wait some more.
Why Now?
Yet the sources of all unhappiness is sin and its effects so the sooner we deal with it, the happier we will be. Now is really the best time to discover and rediscover the relationship Jesus wants to have with us and the deeper union he calls us to have with Him. This very relationship is in itself a gift that God is presenting us with right here and now.
We do not know what the future holds. So the time to respond to the gives us too grace the Lord seek Him is now. This is the best New Year resolution we can make.
Seek the Lord while you can find him.
Call on him now while he is near.
Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
