Study Stress Relief

Most students experience a certain amount of stress when studying for their exams. Some of the accompanying symptoms are typical: restlessness, panic, fear, anxiety, lack of confidence that we would remember what we study, insomnia, over eating and so on. Its a time when we envy the cat curled in front of the heater, the friend who is now working and not studying and the younger sibling whose only concern is losing in a computer game.

But does our relationship God come into all this? Sure it does. Sadly for a number of students exam time, with its constraints and busyness, means they pray less not more, if they pray at all. But God wants to be part of all our lives because what concerns me, concerns Him.

So why not take the challenge this time round and set aside a time to be with Him everyday? I remember taking this on when I was a student and was surprised to find that I found it easier to study after spending time in His Presence or receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you
1 Peter 5:7

The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Remember that He cares about you and He is with you all always. Don’t let the exam period be a time when you move away but rather an opportunity to draw closer to the God who knows, who loves and who cares.
