Read Luke 8:40-56
Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.
Luke 8:47-48
This Bible passage shows two miracles, linked through various details, and teaching the necessity and power of faith. The loss of blood, the painful ailment suffered by this woman, signified loss of life for the Jews making her “unclean” and unable to be part of the community. We as well might be be suffering a “haemorrhage” due to our sins, emotional hurts or even physical ailments. The Lord wants us to pray to Him in faith, overcoming the barriers, just as this woman did.
The verb “sozo” can mean both “save” and “heal”. Jesus wants to emphasise the connection between faith and healing and salvation. This very same connection is clearly shown in Jesus' instructions to Jairus when echoing what he had just told the woman: “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
Lord, in this pilgrimage, we don't want to be part of a crowd that just 'enjoys' the places connected with your life. We pray that the places we visit will be channels through which our expectant faith is enkindled. Like that woman, may we touch you and pray to you earnestly, as the One who bled for us on the Cross, so we may be healed of haemorrhages of our soul and the open wounds of our heart.
