Prophets without Immediate Profit

Read Luke 6:22-26

Focal Verse

"Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man"

Luke 6:22

Bible Study

A prophet is a person chosen by God to bring the word of God’s love and truth to the people. Oftentimes, it was a word of rebuke and a call to change their lives.  In the history of God’s chosen people, prophets were not very popular because they told the people things they didn’t want to hear, and as a result were persecuted.

Key Word: "Reward"

Being a prophet does not always profit us in this world. Indeed, St. Paul writes that: everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2Tim. 3:12). But Jesus promises us a reward, an incalculable profit in heaven.

Prayer

Lord when people make fun of me, or reject me because I wish to be your faithful disciple, help me remain a humble and faithful witness and to trust you that you will reward me in due time.
